The one thing I've noticed in the many reviews/comments re Lucinda Williams is that nobody remembers Gram Parsons. Even more than Emmy Lou Harris this artist is the second coming of Gram. He died too soon for most of us to see him live or even become fans but his influence is HUGE in this industry. Ask Bono. And for that one comment a second rate country housewife wannabe Lucinda is not. Unplug your ears. Too many people these days want their women artists to look like runway models. Talk like that to Chrissy Hynde to her face and I'll be the first to kick you on your way out of the emergency ward.

So far I'm only familiar with Mary Chapin Carpenter and of course, Emmy Lou Harris.  Enjoy Carpenter a lot.  Innovative way of looking at the world of the heart.  Emmy Lou - well, I'm totally in love with this lady.  One-of-a-kind class.  No stereotype applies here.  Had the privledge of front row concert seats and my date got jealous!  Oh well. Ugh, they're as lousy as just about any country (or pop) act out now. Real Country music died years ago with the likes of Williams, Miller, Young, Cline and Cash, etc. Now it's about trying to be bubbly and poppy and not about cool, grittty music and hard times; that's the epitome of Country to me, not these desparate housewives look-alikes singing fluff. "...Music theory" - what a knob!

ARE YOU HIGH??  Obviously you have not loved someone so deeply, only to have the relationship end badly.  Lucinda was not only amazing as always in concert, in Tucson, on her first show of her current tour, her cd West is absolutely remarkable.  Just because this cd lacks some of the harder, more "rockish" songs that her other cds may have had, her edge is still there.  Her tone is more subdued, because as you even stated, HER MOTHER PASSED AWAY!!!  Do you expect her to write a hard-edged fast-paced song about it?  This album has the perfect tone for the subject matter is pertains to.  EVERY song on this album is not only genius in the songwriting, but the melodies and tone are spot-on.  She overcame what seems to have been a relationship with someone who was not good to her.  These songs touch the very heart of someone who has gone through the same.  My advice to you?  Lay off the crack pipe and listen to it again.  Or just go play your Britney Spears records.  True songwriters love Lucinda.  She is an artist's artist.  Too bad you don't have the depth of soul to truly get the deeper meaning of her ballads.  My advice to anyone else?  Buy the album.  You WON't be disppointed. I've had it playing nonstop in my car's cd player, ever since the concert.  Lucinda never ceases to amaze me.  Oh - and she's now engaged.  Congratulations Lucinda, you deserve some happiness.  :)

It's about time these ladies got there due...Emmy Lou Harris is so incredible.  I have always admired the fact that she never fell in to what the popular machine wanted.  I would say way to go ladies, but it's been a long time coming.  I love you all for your real talent!

To the ladies that this article was written about....THANK YOU!  Thank you for all of your years of amazing music, and most of all, thank you for not falling in to the world of todays popular machine.  You have amazing talent, and amazing integrity!

 

Why does it seem as though these three are perceived as cool if they are eviscerating the POTUS. To me that seems as though they are following the trend and jumping on the bandwagon with every other artist who uses their platform to spew misinformation. Is there a cool artist who doesn't eviscerate our leaders that you think is worthy of your praise?

 

How wonderful it is to FINALLY see some real talent again. I am so sick of these younger artists with no actual talent.  These that think their carbon copy appearance is more important than the music.  I would wager to guess that none of the newer talents out there right now that are being played up so much by the media even have the slightest idea of what music theory is.  These 3 ladies have demonstrated over and over again their actual talents.  That's why we are still hearing from them.  You go girls!  I love all of you!!!  You ain't no "flash in the pan".
